Born into a family of musicians, Marie-Claude Paquette began learning the piano at a very young age. After four years of medical studies, she redirected her career path to follow her passion, earning a bachelor’s degree followed by a master’s degree in music education. She has been teaching private piano lessons since 1982, notably working at the Maîtrise des petits chanteurs de Québec and the Séminaire Saint-François for many years.
Deeply involved in pedagogy, she has created numerous musical arrangements for her students. She is the co-author of Théorie noire sur blanche, a seven-volume work published by Les Productions d’Oz (1992–1994). She is also the author of the collection titled Le Piano enchanté (Volume 2), published by Éditions Chant de mon Pays in 1995.
Highly engaged in the music community, she served on the board of directors for the Concours provincial de musique de Sillery (now the Concours de musique de la Capitale) for ten years. In addition, she served for several years as a judge for this competition and for the piano examinations at Université Laval’s École préparatoire de musique (renamed the École préparatoire de musique Anna-Marie-Globenski in 2005).
